Calin Georgescu, Secretary-General of ARCoR was elected to be a member of the Board of the European Support Centre, based in Vienna. The new Board is comprised of: Heinz H. Löber, member of the Board of the Austrian Chapter - President of the European Support Centre; Joan Rosas Xicota, member of the Board of the Spanish Chapter - Vice-President; Further Board members are: Max Schön, President of the German Association of the Club of Rome and Siegfried Sellitsch, member of the Board of the Austrian Chapter.
The European Support Centre of the Club of Rome provides support and services for the national Associations of the Club of Rome and the international Club.

The Secretary-General of ARCoR, Calin Georgescu, attended the Conference "Concerted Strategies to meet the Environmental and Economic Challenges of the 21st Century" held at the National Bank of Austria.

The Romanian Association for the Club of Rome organized a conference in the memory of Aurelio Peccei, founder of the Club of Rome.
ARCoR paid hommage to Aurelio Peccei, 25 years after he passed away, at a memorial conference held on 27 July 2009 in the assembly hall of the National Bank of Romania.
Acad. Mugur Isarescu, ARCoR President, Governor of the National Bank of Romania, spoke on the relevance of Aurelio Peccei's legacy for coping with the global challenges of today. Professor Mircea Malitza, Vice President of ARCoR, member of the Romanian Academy, recalled his personal encounters with Aurelio Peccei in the early years of the Club of Rome. Dr. Calin Georgescu, ARCoR Secretary General, emphasized the continued importance of the concept of sustainable development and rational use of resources. Finally, Dr. Valentin Lazea, Chief Economist of the National Bank, outlined some of the options for Romania's development in the post-crisis period.
The main speeches were followed by a lively debate on the impact that the Club of Rome reports have had on the advancement of forward-looking thinking and comprehensive approaches to development in the modern world.
The audience included a former President and a former Prime Minister of Romania, ministers and other dignitaries, members of Parliament, leading representatives of the academic and business community, and general public.

The meeting was held in Bucharest, at the Club of the National Bank of Romania. During the meeting, the members discussed about, and approved the new Board of ARCoR and the revised Statute of the Association, as well as the projects of the Association for the year 2010.
Within the same meeting, a session was held, “Romania - Post Crisis Scenarios”, the interventions being made by Mr. Mugur Isarescu, President of ARCoR and Governor of the National Bank, Prof. Mircea Malitza, Vice-President of ARCoR, Dr. Calin Georgescu, Secretary General of ARCoR and Amb. Sergiu Celac, Vice-President of ARCoR. The next meeting is scheduled to take place in February of 2010.
