ARCoR supported the emergence of new ideas and organized Colloquia of the Great Trends (main topics: "European Union Enlargement towards the East", "Five Scenarios for Europe" and "Energy and the Environment in Romania".
ARCoR issued its own publication: ARCoR Bulletin.
The ARCoR vice-presidents and general secretary co-chaired and/or delivered speeches in important national and international conferences and meetings focused on major world problems:
- Seminar on Peace Education - Romania;
- Conflict prevention, Preparatory Seminar of UNDP Conference on Conflict Prevention - Romania;
- Sustainable Development, Club of Rome Conference on Sustainable Development - Russia;
- Stability Pact, International Conference: North East Italy and Balkan Reconstruction - Italy;
- Conference on Strategies to Promote Stability in the Caucasus - Switzerland;
- Conference on Strategic Studies, Strategic Studies International Think Tank - Portugal;
- Climate Change, Meetings of International Advisory Council on Climate Change - Hungary ;
ARCoR continuously supported the sustainable development process in Romania through the activities of its members in Local Agenda 21 implementation in Romanian localities. This process, initiated by UNDP, started in 2000, having as a development objective to enhance the operational capabilities of local authorities, to foster a participatory and multi-sectoral development planning process, and to encourage the implementation of the national SD strategy through the preparation of Agenda 21 strategies, action plans and specific projects at a local level addressing the more significant sustainable development concerns of specific constituencies.
ARCoR supported the efforts of the Romanian Government, Unites Nations Development Programme and Earth Council in the Rio + 10 assessment process at: national level: National Seminar on Evaluation of the Rio + 10 Process (Bucharest, September, 2000).
